Up Your Game
At the Northwich Foot Clinic, we specialise in combining gait analysis and biomechanics from the podiatrists with the musculo-skeletal therapy and rehabilitation regimes of our multidisciplinary team.
When you book a biomechanical assessment with us, your first appointment will be with our podiatrist for a full lower limb assessment and digital podosmart gait analysis. This will pinpoint any misalignments within your bony structure and identify the cause of any lower limb or foot pain that you may be having.
Often the issues can be corrected with Orthotics. These are prescription insoles which are tailored to correct the angles of your feet and leg to improve posture and gait.
Following on from your appointment, your podiatrist may recommend an assessment by our Physio/Sports Rehabilitator to continue your treatment plan and return you to optimum strength.
Why Get A Biomechanics Assessment?
If you’re suffering from pain in your lower limbs a biomechanical assessment is the best way to identify the cause. Getting an assessment early on can not only save you a lot of discomfort and pain, it can also help prevent your symptoms from worsening.
You may also wish to see a biomechanical podiatrist to explore your walking pattern. This can be very beneficial to ensuring you aren’t putting excess strain on certain joints or muscles, preventing the development of pain and discomfort in the future.
What Happens During An Assessment?
At your appointment you will be asked detailed questions about your problem and how this is affecting you.
The Podiatrist will need to examine your legs, thighs and on some occasions your back. They will carry out a seated assessment to examine your foot and lower limb flexibility and test your muscle strength. The joints in the feet will have the range of motion and alignments checked.
Then, while standing, your Foot Posture Index (FPI) will be looked at. Your foot and lower limb flexibility and any misalignments in the feet, legs, pelvis and shoulders noted. Your gait will be videoed to assess your walking style, cadence and propulsion and finally a detailed in-shoe gait analysis will be carried out using the state of the art Digitsole system

What Our Patients Think
Visited for a Biomechanical assessment. Staff are knowledgeable and provided some good advice based upon the measurement tools available. Was sorted with some inserts for my shoes that have given me initial relief from joint pain, and have noticed improvement over the following weeks.
